October Half term Newsletter
Dear Parents/Carers
The year is now well under way and going well. The amalgamation of the two schools went as smoothly as possible with both sites maintaining stability for its pupils. The benefits of working together as one school has included sharing option courses (hairdressing, film animation) and staff expertise.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate last year’s pupils on both sites for their outstanding examination achievements (certificates to be given out shortly).
A further newsletter will be sent out before Christmas, but dates for diaries to date are included in this newsletter.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to working with you.
Best wishes.
I R WRIGHT
Pupil Information
We
would like to remind all parents of the importance of providing the school with
any change of address or phone numbers,
please let the school office know immediately. There have been a number of incidents when it has not been possible to contact a parent when their child has been unwell, due to us not having up to date phone numbers.
School Meals
Could parents please inform the school office immediately if your child changes their school meal arrangements.
We have recently had a number of pupils change to packed lunch, without informing the school office and school meals have been ordered for them.
Pupils cannot change their meal arrangements daily, they must stay on either Hot Dinner or Packed Lunch for a term at a time.
This Year’s
ANNUAL REVIEW DATES - North Site
As I am sure you are aware, an annual review is held in school every year for your child. It is a chance to come to school and hear about your child’s progress and also to set targets for the next year. Please make every effort to attend.
The dates for this year have been set and are as follows:
Tuesday, 7 November 12
Wednesday, 8 November 13
Monday, 20 November 11A
Tuesday, 21 November 11B
Monday, 11 December Primary 1
Monday, 8 January 9A
Tuesday, 9 January 9B
Monday, 5 February 8
Monday, 5 March 10A
Wednesday, 7 March 10B
Wednesday, 25 April 7
The reviews will take place during the day, so we ask you to keep your child off school on the day, to enable teachers to attend this important meeting.
You will get a time for the meeting and a copy of the Annual Review, two weeks before the meeting. There is also a form we would encourage you to complete, which is your chance to make suggestions about what you would like to see for your son/daughter. Your child also completes a form in school stating their views.
Also as part of the annual review process, your child will have a chance to speak to a Pupil Advocacy Worker, Ms Radha Wilkinson. She will work with your child to complete their Pupil View Form, which are questions about how they feel about school and the learning process.
Please contact Jackie Taylor, at the school, if you do not wish this to take place. If you have any questions, please ring Helen Cain at school.
Fundraising
Back in June of this year the children were allowed to wear their own clothes to raise money for “Give a Child a Chance”, a total of £95.80 was raised for this worthwhile charity.
Class N11A organised a Coffee Morning for the McMillan Cancer Support on Tuesday, 10 October 2006. It was a great success and they would like to thank everyone who supported them to raise a total of £220.00.
A big thank you for the cake, supplied by Mandy Birchall for the Marie Curie Big Coffee Morning which took place on the South site. The pupils raised over £300. Many thanks, to all staff and pupils for taking part.
Bank View Football
Congratulations to the North Upper School football team who beat Crosby High 8-1. Well done also to the Lower School team who played a friendly match against our South site. Great sporting behaviour from all those who took part. Look out for more matches next half term.
Congratulations also to the South Site for their 4-2 victory against Claremount. The game was played in an excellent spirit. Bank View played well in the first half and were leading 2-0 at half time. Claremount had the advantage of the wind behind them in the second half and scored a goal to make it
2-1. Bank View came back strongly to score 2 more goals to make it 4-1. Claremount scored a second goal just before the end of the game.
