Easter Newsletter

Letter from the Headteacher

The big event of the term for the whole school (both sites) was the short notice Ofsted inspection, carried out by 3 HMI.

The staff and pupils were under pressure and did themselves proud. There were many complimentary comments and the school came out of the inspection as - good with many outstanding features.
The behaviour of the pupils was described as ‘good humoured and courteous’, with staff providing ‘exceptional care’.

A copy of The full Ofsted report is being sent home to all parents/carers. A copy can be downloaded by clicking here.

A written version of the report will be available upon request.

I would like to thank parents for the high number of Ofsted parent return forms which the inspectors said were ‘overwhelmingly positive’.

I hope you have a pleasant Easter break and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

On a sadder note, Mr Hunter will be retiring at the end of this term. Mr Hunter has taught in Liverpool for 34 years and can even remember teaching some parents of our pupils!

His contribution to the development of special schools, not least Margaret Beavan, Meadow Bank and currently Bank View has had a positive impact on the lives of many young people.

On behalf of the school, parents, pupils and governors, I wish Mr Hunter a happy and fulfilling retirement – thank you.

After Easter Mr Pearce will take up the position of First Deputy with Mrs Cain being promoted to Second Deputy on the North Site.

I would also like to thank Mrs Johnson from the South Site who also leaves the school at Easter. Thank you for your work with the pupils in both the dance sessions and productions you have organised and for your assistance with curriculum based work, you will be sadly missed.

I hope you have a pleasant Easter break and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

Best wishes.

I WRIGHT

Year 10 Assembly – South Site

On Tuesday 26th February, Yr 10 organised an assembly for the Yrs 8 and Yr 9 classes. They set up their own classroom for an assembly and invited the younger pupils. The Yr 10 class had written poetry and used this poetry to create a Powerpoint presentation. The pupils then delivered the presentation in front of their audience. The quality of both the poems and the ICT work were excellent. The younger pupils enjoyed themselves and the S4 pupils proved to be good role models. They inspired the younger pupils by showing them the fantastic work that can be achieved.

Here is one poem written by Aaron

Its eyes are like evil

Its arms are powerful as a gorilla

It stands as strong as a tree

It is as ugly as insects

It is evil like a vampire

Its legs are like mountains

Its mind is as clever as a chimpanzees

Its voice is as strange as a rats

Its teeth are like a crocodiles

Its fists are like spears

It attacks me like a scorpion

I am as wobbly as jelly
