E-Safety

Bank View High School recognises that electronic communication provides students with valuable new learning and recreational opportunities.

However, some aspects of this rapidly developing technology can give cause for concern, with incidents being reported in the media from time to time.

For this reason students at Bank View are regularly reminded both in pastoral sessions and in appriate subject lessons of the need to exercise precautions when using electronic communications for work or for pleasure and in so doing protect themselves against the actions of undesirable members of the online community.

Parents / carers wishing to find out more about E-Safety and how to report any problems should visit the two web sites whose links are given on the right.

Be Net Safe!

To enable pupils and parents to have a pleasurable and safe Internet experience you will find below a copy of the "SMART" code for safe internet use.

Why not discuss the five points with your child now and help them "Be Net Smart" and Net Safe?

Safe - Staying safe involves being careful and not giving out your name, address, mobile phone number, school name or password to people online...

Meeting
someone you meet in cyberspace can be dangerous. Only do so with your parents'/carers' permission and then when they are present...

Accepting
e-mails or opening files from people you don't really know or trust can get you into trouble - they may contain viruses or nasty messages...

Remember
someone online may be lying and not be who they say they are. If you feel uncomfortable when chatting or messaging end the conversation...

Tell
your parent or carer if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried...
